This weeks featured blog post is on the MAD Academy beach clean up. Last Friday as a fundraiser, we picked up trash off of our local beach. We each got pledge sheets and had to fill out 30 names on them. We were and still are raising money to pay for all the great things and opportunities that we get from the MAD academy. Some of these things include clean, functioning computer labs, and a computer for almost every student in each classroom. My group at the beach clean up was: Taylor, Rosie, Erin, Gabe, Sabina, and Levi. There was not that much big pieces of trash, so we went for the little ones. The little pieces of thrash such as cigarette buds are the ones that are the most dangerous so animals because they try to eat them and then they die. We picked up one and a half pounds of trash all together. That’s pretty good considering that there were only tiny trash pieces. At the whole beach clean up there were about 15 different groups who each averaged about 2 pounds. That means that we picked up about 30 pounds of trash. That is impressive if i do say so myself!
