Hedgehog

Katlin Lang “Hedgehog

Outside it smells like when rain mixed with dirt and shit from ruminants
It takes her back to those who taught her to be strong and
Make love to everything she touches

She must suffer now for being a fool
Sizzle in boiling honey-
The angels must be laughing as they comb their golden hair
Humans are such simple creatures that create complex entities
Do they not know it doesn’t matter?

Leaves fall onto the path ahead
She does not have a rancorous spirit
But the simple heart of a child
With a heavy soul that belongs to someone else

She harbored love but knew he would rise against her
What else is there to do but resigned to fire and snow

No more. Do not try to bend a hard heart

When anger floods into her chest
She bites her tongue- not to explode
When she looks at him
She is wax on fire
When he looks
She burns harder

Somebody once said
The fox knows many tricks
The hedgehog only one
A good one

She is a hedgehog

Hedgehogs gave been an animal favorite of mine and I thought this poem should the loveliness of a Hedgehog.

She knows how to survive

Ode To Tea

Every day

when I get home,

Imake a cup of tea.

Iput the kettle

on the stove and

wait until it chirps

like a bird that

sings it’s song

of warmth and comfort.

Ipour the water

into my mug

like a waterfall

cascading down

into a lake.

I add some milk

and sugar in and

watch it as it steams.

A golden pool of

liquid warmth and

happiness.

A fire that heats

you from inside

to out, and

fuels you for

the rest of the day.

Today in my english class we had to write a poem. An ode specifically. We were to choose an ordinarry object and write 25 lines about it using similies and metaphors. I obviously chose tea. I love it, yesterday I provably had about 5 cups in one sitting. Some may call it an addiction, but I prefere the term “strong admiration”. I don’t know what I’de do without my tea! Comment below what your favorite kind of tea is. Mine is irish breakfast tea with milk and honey.
