This year was my first year in the MAD Academy and I loved it. There are only four more days of school left and as this year is ending, I am thinking back on all the great things I’ve done in the MAD Acad. At the beginning of the year we went on a sophomore retreat and stayed in cabins over night. We did ropes courses with partners and a bunch of activities that highlight the importance of team work and trust. Another fun trip we went on was a community service trip to build houses in Arizona. We built houses for the impoverished Apache Indians who are in much need of shelter. Next year we are going on a boat trip to the channel Islands, and I cant wait! Anyways, on friday night there was a mad academy showcase of some of the projects that the students have worked on. My class made websites. It was also the senior mad acad graduation ceremony, and my big brother Stephen graduated. It was funny because they made a video interviewing every student and played that instead of letting the students give speeches, so when they called the kids up one by one to get their certificate, Stephen the mic and gave a short little speech. Im going to miss the graduating senior class, but look forward to my two more years in the MAD Academy! Comment below what your plans for summer are!

Senioritis

Sitting here waiting
Watching the clock slowly tick
Tic toc Tic toc
The days go by slowly
It’s April and May is nowhere in sight

It is getting harder to wake up in the morning
Pushing the snooze button once again
Trying to find reasons to stay home
The mind is elsewhere, floating in the clouds

May is finally here
Graduation is full speed ahead
Seinoritus is getting worse
The heart is set on graduation
The mind wants to sleep in ’til noon

BAM
Graduation is finally here
That was the cure needed all along

This poem is called Senioritis written by Kilee Burton. I would say it’s relevant to my life, although I’m not a senior yet, because AP tests are finally over! The school year is coming to an end so all I want to do is go the beach and be outdoors. I’m sure it will be even more accurate when I’m actually a senior 🙂 How are you all feeling about the school year coming to an end? Let me know in the comments

Summer Solstice by Angel Love

The sun is shining ever so bright

On the longest day of the year

Illuminating the world with its brilliant light

Dispelling all traces of darkness and fear.

As it shines from above

Making the flowers bloom

It peaks in my window

And illuminates my room

The warmth that I feel

Goes down deep to my heart

Reminding me that love

Is what gives the day a good start.

My soul feeling rested

I rise from my bed

Throw open the window

And poke out my head

What a glorious day

To honor the sun

Knowing that all is connected

Knowing that all is one.

Today I wore a summer solstice shirt, so I decided that I would blog about that topic. In Santa Barbara, every year on Summer Solstice there is a parade down the main street of downtown, State Street. It’s so fun to watch, there are many intricate floats that are wheeled down the street. And there are dancers who do choreographed dances in large groups. Over all its a very great experience  and I recommend that you come to Santa Barbara for solstice this year. Comment below what YOU do for solstice!
